Footing once secure
Now misses a step here and there,
A heartbeat now and then.
Spirit moves in swiftly,
Silently,
To quell the loss of wonder
And of hope
Paling in the waning
Light of day.
Where the majesty of mystery
And the magic of the heart
Conjoined,
There ebbs a lingering
Wish for touch,
The faintly familiar brush of lips
Softly silenced by
The loss of wonder
And of hope
Paling in the waning
Light of day.
Come hither, Spirit,
Anoint the day
And fight off the demons
Of the night.
Breathe life into my heart.
Reside in all I encounter,
For I need to reign
Once more
In the joys of wonder
And the robes of hope
Rising in the golden
Light of day.
